Too Young

When do you get too old to wear something? Today I walked into a store that obviously had clothes for the younger generation in mind as in younger than a mid-30 year old woman. That’s on top of the fact that I don’t exactly have the body of Katie Holmes, Jennifer Lopez, or anyone closely resembling these women. After trying on a few pieces that didn’t quite hit my fancy, I found some jeans that had a rather short zipper and said they were “hipsters” as in they are to be worn on your hip. I got them on and zipped, and well they were comfortable but I suddenly felt like I was 16 again. After telling the hubby about these jeans, he seemed intrigued and said he wanted to see me in them. Maybe I’ll buy them if only to feel 16 again for a little bit.

  1. My trick is to integrate some “young” pieces in with adult pieces of my wardrobe. In that way, I don’t look overly “hoochie-fied”. *haha*. I am not a big hipster fan (probably b/c I don’t have hips - I am the perpectual stick figure). As long as you aren’t trying to be 16 years old again through your clothing, I think that a few cute junior tops or bottoms are alright. Especially if you have the body for it…why not?

  2. Hmmm… well don’t really have the body for it but I think I looked okay in those hipster jeans. And I really don’t want to be 16 years old again… too much teen angst. Thanks for the great advice, NC_State_gal!
